The New York State Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Program The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued grants to States and Territories to provide American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding to develop and implement Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Programs. This rebate program is available to residential consumers replacing an existing appliance of the same type with new ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances or High Efficiency ENERGY STAR appliances. Details on the rebate opportunities are as follows:

New York's Great Appliance Swap Out will allow the State to issue more than 170,000 rebates totaling $16.8 million to New York residents for ENERGY STAR® rated refrigerators, clothes washers, freezers and dishwashers purchased during President's Week in February, 2010. Rebates for appliances will range from $50-$105 for a single unit and up to $555 for the purchase of a three-appliance package. In addition, the program, administered by the New York Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) encourages recycling by offering a larger rebate to consumers who recycle their discarded appliances.

To participate, New York State residents will do the following:

1. Purchase an Option 1 Appliance or the Option 2 Appliance Bundle during President's Week, February 12th - 21st, 2010.
2. Fill out the Rebate Application here or call the program's Help Desk at 1-877-NYSMART for assistance. This is a first-come, first-served program. Once program funding is depleted, applications will no longer be accepted.
3. Return the application with any required receipts for processing. Applications must be postmarked by March 15th, 2010.
